MILWAUKEE -- The Marquette University women's basketball team will officially open its season when it takes on Longwood on Nov. 11 at 7 p.m. Central time at the Al McGuire Center.

Individuals who identify themselves as current or former service personnel will receive complimentary admission to the game in honor of Veteran's Day.

The game will stream live on via production from MUTV student television.

The Golden Eagles are coming off a win in their lone exhibition of the season against Minnesota State. In the contest, Allazia Blockton led all scorers with 22 points, and also pitched in six boards. Sophomore forward Erika Davenport registered a double-double, tallying 18 points and 10 rebounds.

After experiencing success from beyond the arc during the 2015-16 season, Marquette struggled in its exhibition, shooting just 3-of-21 (14.3 %) from the three-point line. Natisha Hiedeman had the most success from distance, shooting 2-of-6 from deep en route to a 12 point afternoon.

The Golden Eagles will look to snap a two-game losing streak in season-opening tilts, falling to Green Bay on both occasions.

Longwood enters the 2016-17 season losing three of its top four scorers from last season. Eboni Gilliam, who finished third on the team last year in scoring, is the leading returner for the Lancers. Gilliam, a senior, led the team in its exhibition win over Randolph on Nov. 6 by posting a double-double performance which included 14 points and 11 boards.

Gilliam led the team in 2015-16 with 202 total boards, averaging 6.7 per outing. The Lancers also return Autumn Childress who tallied 5.8 points and 5.0 rebounds per night in 2015-16.

The Lancers finished last season with an 8-22 overall record, and 5-15 in conference play. Longwood struggled playing on the road, amassing a 2-14 record away from Farmville, Virginia.

After the matchup with Longwood, the Golden Eagles will prepare for Saint Francis (PA) on Nov. 15 at the Al McGuire Center. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m. CT.
