Marquette to Play Michigan Monday Live on Big Ten Network

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -
With just a day to rest, the Marquette women's basketball team hits the road to play at Michigan Monday, Nov. 16, at 6:30 p.m. ET/5:30 p.m. CT at Crisler Arena. The game will be broadcast live on the Big Ten Network with Brent Stover (play-by-play) and Mary Murphy (analyst) calling the action. The Big Ten Network can now be seen locally in Milwaukee on Time Warner Cable Ch. 63 or in high definition on Ch. 527. The Golden Eagles (1-0) are coming off a 74-38 season-opening win over St. Francis on Saturday. Redshirt junior Jocelyn Mellen and senior Lauren Thomas-Johnson led charge with 10 and 14 points, respectively. Marquette had a stellar defensive effort against the Red Flash holding it to just 38 points, the lowest point total Marquette has given up since it beat Toledo, 67-28, on Nov. 24, 2004. It also forced St. Francis to commit 24 turnovers. Michigan (1-0) also enters play following of a season-opening win over Ball State, 87-67, Friday night. The Wolverines were picked to finish last in the Big Ten preseason coaches poll and media poll after finishing the 2008-09 season 10-20 overall and 3-15 in Big Ten action. Veronica Hicks is Michigan's top returning scorer with 9.6 points per game last season. She scored 15 points and added seven rebounds in the win over Ball State. Marquette is 2-2 all-time against the Wolverines. Michigan won the two teams' last meeting 65-49 on Nov. 29, 2001 in Ann Arbor.
