Marquette Ready for First Road Test

MILWAUKEE - The Marquette University women's basketball team is set for its first road trip of the season and will head to Nashville, Tenn., to take on No. RV/25 Vanderbilt Commodores on Sunday, Nov. 17. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. CT.
The Golden Eagles (2-0) head into the game coming off two-straight wins at home, most recently a 96-44 victory over Arkansas-Pine Bluff. Nine players contributed to the 96 total points of the game. A pair of seniors, Katherine Plouffe and Katie Young, earned double double feats against UAPB. Plouffe scored 18 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, while Young notched 12 points with 11 rebounds.
Junior Arlesia Morse led the team with 19 points off the bench over the Lady Lions and classmate Apiew Ojulu recorded double figure scoring for the second straight game of the season adding 15. MU's Brooklyn Pumroy has continued leading at the guard position, dishing out six assists against UAPB which totals 15 assists in the first two games of the season. Pumroy, a sophomore, finished her rookie year with 71 total assists.
The Vanderbilt squad broke into the USA Today's poll this week at No. 25 with its first two wins against Appalachian State and Western Kentucky. The Commodores were led by senior Christina Foggie who racked up 26 points, with 21 coming in the first half, against the Hilltoppers. Vanderbilt escaped with a 73-67 victory over Delaware State Thursday night in its third game in a four-game home stand.
When Marquette returns from Music City, it will host Central Michigan at the Al McGuire on Thursday, Nov. 21 at 7 p.m.
