Marquette Hosts IUPUI in Home Opener

MILWAUKEE-- The Marquette University women's basketball team will host IUPUI on Monday, Nov. 16 at Noon Central time for its annual Milwaukee Public Schools game.
This is the first year since the 2005-06 season that the homeopener was not the same game as the season opener.
MU fell in the season opener, 75-55 at Green Bay on Friday evening. Every available player saw time and the eight true freshmen recorded their collegiate debuts.
Junior McKayla Yentz paved the way with 11 points, including 3-of-5 from three-point range. She also grabbed six rebounds in the game. Freshmen Allazia Blockton and Erika Davenport each poured in nine points on Friday, while Davenport pulled down a team-high seven boards. Amani Wilborn dished out five assists.
IUPUI also fell in its season opener in a 77-71 overtime decision at Eastern Illinois. Akilah Sims had a game-high 22 points to go along with eight rebounds. Junior Mikale Rogers totaled 19 points and seven boards while shooting 63.6 percent from the field (7-11). Freshman Sydney Hall grabbed seven rebounds with five assists.
Monday is just the second all-time meeting between the two programs. The Golden Eagles won the first game in Novmber 2004, 74-63.
The Golden Eagles will embark on a four-game road swing beginning Saturday, Nov. 21 at Northern Kentucky. Tip-off is slated for Noon CT.
