MILWAUKEE - The Marquette women’s basketball team will play its first game at the Bradley Center since 2007 when it hosts Georgia Tech on Saturday, Nov. 19. Sports32 will carry the 1 p.m. tip-off live with Michelle Griffin Wenzel (play-by-play) and Kareeda Chones-Aguam (analyst) calling the action courtside.

Head coach Terri Mitchell will be coaching in bare feet in support of Soles for Jesus, a non-profit corporation that provides new and gently used shoes to people in impoverished areas in Africa. Her staff will sport sneakers that will be donated to the organization following the game. Georgia Tech head coach MaChelle Joseph has also agreed to coach barefoot and have her staff wear sneakers for the game.

The game also kicks off Marquette’s season-long shoe drive. Fans who bring new or gently used shoes to donate at the Bradley Center on Nov. 19 will receive $5 admission to the game. Cash donations will also be accepted in each lobby to help assist with the cost of shipping the shoes to Africa.

The shoe drive will continue for the remainder of the women’s basketball season. Bins will be available in the Al McGuire Center for fans to donate.

The Golden Eagles (2-0) are coming off a 54-52 win over Wisconsin Tuesday. Sarina Simmons scored a career-high 23 points to help lift the Golden Eagles over the Badgers. Through two games, Simmons owns 17.5 points and 12.5 rebounds. Gabi Minix, in her second game as the team’s starting point guard, dished six assists while only turning the ball over once.

Georgia Tech (2-0) returns 12 letter winners and three starters from a team that won 24 games and advanced to the second round of the 2011 NCAA Championship. Dawn Maye leads the Yellow Jackets with 13.5 points per game, while Tyaunna Marshal and Sydney Wallace each have chipped in 12.5 points in GT’s two wins.
