Nov. 19, 2007
MILWAUKEE - Junior guard Krystal Ellis was named the BIG EAST Player of the Week as announced by the conference office on Monday.
Ellis averaged 21.5 points, while shooting 45.2 percent from the field in a 2-0 week. She scored a season-high 31 points, just two shy of matching her career high, in Marquette's 67-53 victory over No. 25/RV Wisconsin at the Bradley Center on Nov. 17.
Ellis scored 21 of her points in the first half as Marquette took a 10-point lead into intermission. Ellis also registered four assists and four steals without committing a turnover in 34 minutes of play. She made all six of her free throw attempts and made a career-high 10 field goals. In the Golden Eagles' 82-69 win over Loyola (Ill.) on Nov. 12, Ellis notched 12 points and four assists.
This is the first Player of the Week honor of Ellis' career.
The Golden Eagles head to the West Coast for a two-game swing over the Thanksgiving holiday. MU will face Oregon on Tuesday, Nov. 20 at 9 p.m. CT, and play at Gonzaga on Friday, Nov. 23, at 9 p.m. CT.
