DURHAM, N.C.--The Marquette women's basketball team will conclude its two-game road trip on Sunday, Nov. 23 when it travels to No. 7/7 Duke at Cameron Indoor Stadium. The game will tip-off at 1 p.m. Central time and is available for a fee on the Blue Devil Network at www.dukesports.com.
A second-half rally could not be completed at Wake Forest as Marquette fell, 89-77 on Friday night. Senior Arlesia Morse led MU with 26 points, just two shy of a career-best, and nine boards. Freshman Tia Elbert poured in a career-high 21 points, while classmate Kenisha Bell added 13 points and dished five assists.
Duke heads into the game with a 2-0 record and ranked No. 7/7 in both the AP and USA Today Coaches Poll. The Blue Devils defeated Old Dominion 82-66 on Thursday evening, led by 22 points from Elizabeth Williams. She leads Duke this season with 19.5 points and 10.0 rebounds per game. Williams is one of four Blue Devils averaging double digits along with Rebecca Greenwell, Oderah Chidom and Ka'lia Johnson.
Morse leads the Golden Eagles with 18.7 points per game, which ranks fourth in the BIG EAST. She has also connected on 24-for-26 from the free-throw line to lead the league.
The Blue Devils own a 4-0 all-time record over Marquette and picked up a 78-61 victory last season in Milwaukee. Graduated senior Katie Young was MU's leading scorer with 21 points. Api Ojulu tallied six points as the leading returning scorer.
Marquette will return home for a two-game stretch beginning Wednesday, Nov. 26 when the squad hosts cross-town foe, Milwaukee at 7 p.m. at the Al McGuire Center. That game will be broadcast live on Time Warner Cable SportsChannel. The Golden Eagles will welcome South Dakota to Milwaukee on Sunday, Nov. 30.
