MU to Face Michigan in the Paradise Jam Finale Saturday

Head coach Terri Mitchell is on the brink of 300 career wins

ST. THOMAS, U.S.V.I – The Marquette University women’s basketball team will close out play at the U.S. Virgin Islands Paradise Jam Saturday, Nov. 26 against Michigan in the tournament finale. Tip-off at the University of the Virgin Islands is set for 7 p.m. Central Time.

A live video stream of all games will be available on a pay-per-view basis of $4.99 per game, courtesy of ParadiseJam.com.

A win over Michigan and a Washington State loss to Prairie View A&M would give Marquette the its second Paradise Jam title and its ninth regular season tournament title. It would also give head coach Terri Mitchell her 300th career win and become just the second coach in Marquette history with 300 wins.

The Golden Eagles (3-2) are coming off a 71-51 win over Prairie View A&M where sophomore Katherine Plouffe poured in a career-high 22 points and the Golden Eagles shot a season-high 57.4 percent from the floor, including 63.6 percent in the second half. Marquette also saw double-digit scoring efforts from a trio of freshmen: Apiew Ojulu (15), Arlesia More (11) and Chelsie Butler (10).

Michigan remains the only undefeated team in the field at 6-0. The Wolverines own wins over Prairie View A&M (59-53) and Washington State (69-39) in the Paradise Jam.

Courtney Boylan leads Michigan with 14.8 points and 5.2 rebounds per game. She scored a game-high 17 points in the Wolverines win over Washington State. Rachael Sheffer and Kate Thompson follow with 13.0 points and 9.3 points per game, respectively.

 

 

Marquette is 3-3 all-time against Michigan. The Golden Eagles won the last meeting, 63-49, Nov. 19, 2010 at the Al McGuire Center. The Wolverines welcome back 10 letter winners from the 2010-11 team that earned a berth in the WNIT and finished the season 17-13 overall.
