MILWAUKEE-- After averaging 21.5 points per game in Marquette's two matchups last week, Kenisha Bell has been named the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week, the league announced Monday.

Bell poured in a team-high 21 points in Marquette's victory over Milwaukee last Wednesday, also adding five rebounds and four steals. She converted 9-of-13 shots from the field against the Panthers, helping guide MU to its second win of the season.

The 5-9 freshman followed up her strong effort against Milwaukee with a career-high 22 points against South Dakota. Along with all the scoring she did against South Dakota, Bell also grabbed eight rebounds for the Golden Eagles.

Bell's 16.2 points per game rank second on the team, narrowly behind Arlesia Morse who scores at a 16.5 point per game clip. Bell is the highest scoring freshman in the BIG EAST and ranks within the top 10 in scoring in all of the conference.

Bell and the Golden Eagles return to action, Tuesday, Dec. 2, when they travel to Auburn for a 6 p.m. Central time tilt against the Tigers.
