Dec. 2, 2013
MILWAUKEE--Marquette senior women's basketball player Katherine Plouffe has racked up multiple weekly honors for her performance last week at the South Point Thanksgiving Shootout. The forward was named Most Outstanding Player of the tournament and was awarded a spot on the BIG EAST weekly honor roll.
Plouffe averaged 21.0 points and 7.0 rebounds to help MU (6-1) defeat Tennessee Tech and Utah, while shooting 55.6 percent from the floor.
"It is a great honor for Katherine to be named Most Outstanding Player of the tournament, and she continues to have a remarkable senior season," head coach Terri Mitchell said. "Her performance, leadership and work ethic helped us earn two wins over the weekend and we are looking forward to seeing where the rest of the year will take us."
This is the second weekly honor from the conference for Plouffe this season after she was selected as player of the week following the first three games this year.
The Golden Eagles return home and will host in-state rival Wisconsin on Saturday, Dec. 7. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. at the Al McGuire Center.
