Women's Basketball Hosts South Dakota Monday

MILWAUKEE- Following a nine-day hiatus due to final exams, the Marquette University women’s basketball team is back in action at the Al McGuire Center Monday, Dec. 19 against South Dakota State at 7 p.m.
Monday night is Christmas at "The Al." Fans who bring a new toy to donate will receive $2 admission. All toys will be donated to the Salvation Army. The Golden Eagle will be dressed in special Christmas clothes and Christmas-themed games will be played.
A live stream of the game can be seen free of charge, on GoMarquette.com's multimedia platform, MUTube with Kent Sommerfeld (play-by-play) and Kyle Dlabay (analyst) calling all of the action.
It is the first of two games for the Golden Eagles prior to the Christmas holiday break. Marquette will host Vermont on Wednesday, Dec. 21 at Noon for Milwaukee Public Schools Day at the Al McGuire Center.
The Golden Eagles will look for more of the same play from its 93-44 win over Iona on Dec. 10 where they shot a season-high 57.8 percent from the floor, including 44.4 percent from long distance. Marquette had four players score in double figures led by Katherine Plouffe who registered her second double-double of the season with 20 points and 11 rebounds.
Winners of three of its last four games, South Dakota State is 6-4 overall. Jennie Sunnarborg leads the Jackrabbits with 11.7 points and 6.0 rebounds per game. Jill Young follows with 10.1 points per game. SDSU will host Arkansas-Little Rock on Friday evening before traveling to Marquette for Monday night’s contest.
