MILWAUKEE--The Marquette women's basketball team closes out the non-conference portion of its schedule Friday, Dec. 20 when it hosts Denver at 7 p.m. CT at the Al McGuire Center.

The Golden Eagles (8-2) are fresh off a 79-71 overtime victory over Oral Roberts on Thursday. Junior Arlesia Morse led all scorers with a career-high 28 points and six steals. Senior Katie Young recorded her sixth double double of the season with 10 points and 12 rebounds. Junior Apiew Ojulu and sophomore Lauren Tibbs each pulled down 11 boards in the game as MU outrebounded Oral Roberts, 57-34.

The Pioneers are on a seven-game losing streak and are just 1-9 this season with the lone victory a 72-64 win at Air Force in November. Kailey Edwards leads Denver with 13.4 points, while Morgan Van Riper-Rose is averaging 13.0 points per game. Maiya Michel leads DU on the boards with 8.4 rebounds per contest.

This is the first meeting between the two programs.

Marquette is looking to wrap up its best non-conference record since the 2010-11 season where it went 12-1 in non-BIG EAST play.

Following the game the Golden Eagles will break for Christmas and return to open the 2013-14 BIG EAST Conference season on the road at new-member Butler Dec. 28. This year's conference schedule will have each team play each other at home and on the road.
