MILWAUKEE--The Marquette women's basketball team will play its final game before the holiday break on Tuesday when the squad travels across town to city-foe, Milwaukee. The game will air live on Time Warner Cable SportsChannel and ESPN3.com with Bob Brainerd and Maria Viall on the call.
This game will also mark the Golden Eagles' (4-6) final non-conference game of the season and is the second of a five-game road stretch.
MU fell, 90-80 at No. 21/23 Arizona State on Saturday, which snapped a two-game win streak. Freshman Allazia Blockton paved the way for four Golden Eagles in double digits with her fourth double-double of the season on 22 points and 10 rebounds. For her efforts she was rewarded for the third straight week as the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week. Classmate Erika Davenport also had a stellar game at ASU with a career-high 18 points and 10 rebounds, which was her second double-double of the year.
Blockton leads Marquette in points and rebounds with 16.8 points and 7.3 rebounds per game. Shantelle Valentine is second as she is pulling down 7.0 boards per contest.
The Panthers (4-4) recently fell to Denver, 56-49 on Dec. 14, but have won three of their past five games. Milwaukee is led this season by Jenny Lindner with 13.9 points per game, while Steph Kostowicz is the squad's leading rebounder with 9.9 boards per game.
Following the game, Marquette will have one week off and be back on the court on Tuesday, Dec. 29 at 7 p.m. Central time when the team opens BIG EAST play at No. 17 DePaul.
