The Marquette women's basketball team will play its final game of its non-conference slate and its last of 2008 when UW-Milwaukee visits the Al McGuire Center on Wednesday, Dec. 31. The 3 p.m. tip-off can be seen live on Time Warner Sports 32 with Kareeda Chones-Aguam and Steve "The Homer" True calling all of the action. It can also be heard via the airwaves on 540 AM ESPN Radio with Kent Sommerfeld and Tony Matera on the call.

The New Year's Eve matinee between the Golden Eagles (9-4) and Panthers (4-6) will mark the 42nd meeting between the two teams since Feb. 3, 1976. Marquette owns the series advantage, 23-18, and has won the last 11 games. Head coach Terri Mitchell is 11-0 versus the Panthers.

Wednesday afternoon's game will showcase two of the nation's top-five career scorers in Marquette senior guard Krystal Ellis (Fourth, 1,750) and UWM's Traci Edwards (third, 1,944). Ellis is 69 points shy of breaking MU's all-time scoring record (1,818).

The Golden Eagles are coming off a 78-68 win at Oakland Sunday in which sophomore guard Angel Robinson led the way with a career-high 33 points. Robinson shot a stunning 80 percent (12-of-15) for the game and 57.1 percent (4-of-7) from three-point land.

Meanwhile, UW-Milwaukee has not played a game since Dec. 22 when it lost in overtime to Evansville, 62-61. Each of UWM's last three games have decided by no more than two points. Edwards leads the team with 19.0 points per contest 7.9 rebounds. She is the only Panther to average 10 or more points per game.

Also, Aurora's Visiting Nurse Association of Wisconsin will be offering flu shots during Wednesday's game. The Aurora Visiting Nurse Association will immunize individuals age 9 and older. Those 9-18 must be accompanied by a guardian who can sign a consent form. Pneumonia vaccinations are recommended for those 65 or older, or under 65 for people with chronic health conditions such as diabetes or heart or lung diseases. Medicare Part B and Medicaid cover the cost of flu and pneumonia vaccinations. For others, flu shots cost $30, pneumonia shots $45.
