MIAMI, Fla. - The Marquette women's basketball team will look for its first regular-season tournament title since 2006 when it plays La. Tech in the championship game of the Sun and Fun Classic hosted by FIU Thursday,. Dec. 30 at 2 p.m. ET/1 p.m. CT.

The game will also mark the Golden Eagles' final regular-season non-conference game of the 2010-11 campaign. Marquette will resume BIG EAST play on Jan. 5 against Notre Dame at the Al McGuire Center.

Marquette earned its berth in the championship game by way of a 73-67 win over FIU Wednesday. The Golden Eagles had all five starters score in double figures led by Katherine Plouffe with 14.

La. Tech advanced to the title game with a decisive 77-62 win over Georgia. Adrienne Johnson led the Lady Techsters with 30 points and 11 rebounds while playing the entire 40 minutes in the win.

Marquette will take on La. Tech for just the second time in program history and the first time in the Terri Mitchell era. Thursday's game will be 16 years to the day the two teams last met. Marquette fell to the Lady Techsters in their only meeting in the Junkanoo Shootout in Nassau, Bahamas on Dec. 30, 1994.
