Marquette's women's lacrosse team is ready to face its first challenge and play the program's inaugural games.


MU begins preparations for its inaugural season

Practice has begun for the Marquette women's lacrosse team's inaugural season - find out from head coach Meredith Black, and Alex Winey and Emma Salter about how the team has progressed heading into year one.

2015: Appeared in nine games for the Golden Eagles ... Made season-high 11 saves in just 30 minutes of action in a 13-5 loss at Colorado (Feb. 14) ... Made two saves in a 15-4 victory against St. Mary's (March 10) ... Stopped three shots in a 13-5 win over Detroit (Mar. 22) ... Recorded three saves in a 13-8 loss at UConn (April 4) ... Made two saves in a 16-5 loss against Florida (April 8).

: Picked up a ground ball in a 5-20 loss at No. 4 Northwestern (Feb. 25) ... Tallied one save in the cage during 15-9 victory at Detroit (March 2) ... Notched three saves during 10-14 loss vs. Duquesne (March 7) ... Registered two saves and one ground ball in 6-12 loss at Rutgers (April 11) ... Contributed one ground ball and two saves in 9-10 loss vs. Villanova (April 19) ... Garnered four saves, two ground balls and one caused turnovers in 5-12 loss against Louisville (April 24).

2013: Salter saw action in nine games as a back-up goalie as a freshman, playing just over 116 minutes ... Made 15 saves for a .405 save percentage on 48 shots faced ... Given Marquette women's lacrosse's "MU Rah Rah" spirit award.

High School: Salter earned four letters in lacrosse at Sacred Heart Academy ... Four-time conference champion ... Notched 182 saves as a junior and 170 as a sophomore ... Competed in the US Lacrosse Women's National Tournament in 2011 ... Named to the US Lacrosse All-Academic Team as a junior and senior ... Salter received the 2010 Long Island Girls Challenge Team Most Valuable Player award ... Member of the Long Island Liberty club lacrosse team.
