CONWAY, S.C. - Freshman Hayley Baas scored the game-winning goal 1:31 into second overtime as the Marquette University women's lacrosse team picked up its first win in program history, 12-11, over Coastal Carolina at Brooks Stadium in Conway, S.C.

The Golden Eagles (1-1) led by as many as four goals and managed to pull out the victory after Coastal Carolina took a 11-10 just 1:19 into the first overtime.

Freshman Kenzie Brown, who notched a game-high seven points, scored her fifth goal of the contest to knot the score at 11 as the first three minutes of overtime expired.  Neither team scored after the switch as the game headed to the sudden-death overtime period where Baas would score the game winner, her second tally of the game.

The Chanticleers (0-2) were the first to score in extra time as CCU's Lily Yednock capitalized with the wind at her back to take an 11-10 lead.

After a 7-3 Marquette lead at the half, Coastal Carolina scored five of the first six goals of the second to knot the score at eight. Brown answered with the man advantage to retake the lead and Marquette nearly capitalized on the ensuing draw on a breakaway by Moore, S.C., native Anna Muzika.

Claire Costanza put the Golden Eagles back on top by a pair, 10-8, roughly three-and-a-half minutes later after scooping up a ground ball at midfield and running it all the way in for the marker.

Coastal responded by tying the game at 10 with a little over three minutes remaining and neither team was able to score as regulation came to a close.

The Golden Eagles carried over some of the spark from the second half of their game Friday night and jumped out to a 4-0 lead early in the first half.

Freshman Lauren Hooker, who picked up MU's first goal in program history on Friday evening, notched Marquette first of the afternoon roughly four minutes into the contest.

The Golden Eagles return to Milwaukee and will host their first-ever home game at Valley Fields against Duquesne on Saturday, Feb. 23 at noon CT.
