MILWAUKEE - No. 17 Loyola Maryland was too much for the Marquette University women's lacrosse team on Sunday afternoon as the Greyhounds topped the Golden Eagles 17-2 at Valley Fields.

Marquette (2-12) seniors Lisa Beltramello, Katie Bathon, Jacqueline Dubois and manager Chloe Johnson were honored in a pregame ceremony, while the Golden Eagles used the afternoon to show their support for the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. MU raised almost $10,000 for the fight against pancreatic cancer.

Freshmen Kenzie Brown and Claire Costanza scored the lone goals for Marquette with Brown's team-leading 20th tally of the year coming at the 18:56 mark of the opening half. The Greyhounds jumped out to a 5-0 lead prior to Brown's marker and led 14-1 early in the second half when Costanza added MU's final goal with 25:24 left in the second.

Three Greyhounds (7-6) recorded hat tricks on the afternoon, led by senior Joanna Dalton, who scored three goals and added an assist. Senior Ashley Cahill and junior Ali Habicht also contributed four points for Loyola, while 11 players chipped in at least one point.

Loyola led 13-1 at halftime and had racked up a 22-3 advantage in shots on goal in the first. The Greyhounds outshot MU 32-8 for the game and held a slim 22-20 edge in ground balls.

Marquette concludes its 2013 home schedule 1-6 at Valley Fields.

The Golden Eagles will hit the road for their final three games of the 2013 season, beginning at Connecticut on Friday, April 19 at 6 p.m. CT.
