MILWAUKEE – Marquette University women’s lacrosse head coach Meredith Black has announced the team captains for the 2016 season will be Elizabeth Goslee and Kayce Haverstick.

“Biz and Kayce have been outstanding leaders and captains for this team for the past two years and I know they will continue to do so as they enter into their senior seasons,” Black said. “I am very happy that the team voted these two into the role of captain for yet another year. The voting for captains this year showed that our senior class is a strong group of leaders, so Biz and Kayce should have an easy job with the support of their class.

“I am very excited for our team’s leadership this season and I think it will play a key role in the success of our team.”

Goslee has started every game during her first three seasons, including all 17 in 2015. As a defensive stalwart for the Golden Eagles, she led MU with 30 caused turnovers, tied for the team-lead with 30 ground balls and added 16 draw controls as well.

In 2015, the Cincinnati, Ohio native was an IWLCA All-West/Midwest Region Second Team selection, an All-BIG EAST Second Team honoree, and shared team co-MVP honors with fellow classmate and goalkeeper Sarah Priem.

Haverstick also has never missed a game, making all 51 starts in her career thus far and is coming off a strong 2015 campaign, where she worked alongside Goslee to register a career-high 27 ground balls and 13 caused turnovers.

Marquette begins the 2016 season on Saturday, Feb. 6, when it takes on Louisville on the road. The Golden Eagles will open the season with three-straight road contests before hosting California in the home opener at Valley Fields Friday, Feb. 26.
