Feb. 14, 2017
NEW YORK – Junior midfielder Allison Lane has been named to the BIG EAST weekly honor roll after her strong performance in the season opener, the league office announced on Tuesday in conjunction with its first set of weekly awards for the 2017 season.
Lane put forth an impressive all-around effort in the season opener, scoring three goals on seven shots (6 shots on goal) to go along with five ground balls, four draw controls and four caused turnovers, as Marquette fell in narrow fashion to No. 18 Louisville, 13-12.
The Asbury, N.J., native scored twice in the second half with her final goal coming with 1:30 left in regulation to cut the deficit to one and give MU a chance to tie in the waning seconds.
This is Lane’s third time landing on the BIG EAST honor roll after doing so twice a season ago. She was also named BIG EAST Midfielder of the Week on two occasions last season.
The Golden Eagles will take on No. 8 Notre Dame in their first road outing of the 2017 season Tuesday at 6 p.m. Central time.
