Shearer Tabbed to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

Feb. 21, 2017

Official BIG EAST Release

NEW YORK – Senior attacker Julianna Shearer was the second Marquette player in as many weeks to be named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, the league office announced on Tuesday.

Shearer filled the stat sheet against a pair of ranked opponents last week, totaling seven goals on nine shots, to go along with three ground balls, eight draw controls and two caused turnovers. Against No. 8/10 Notre Dame last Tuesday, the Westminster, Maryland, native totaled four goals before tallying a hat trick against No. 20/17 Johns Hopkins on Saturday.

Last season’s team-leader in goals is leading the way once again as Shearer is currently tied with sophomore Grace Gabriel, pacing the Golden Eagles with eight goals after the team’s first three games.

This marks the second time Shearer has landed on the league’s weekly honor roll with the previous time coming back on March 22 of last season.

Marquette embarks on a season-long seven-game road trip beginning with Central Michigan on Thursday, Feb. 23. First draw is set for 1 p.m. Central time.
