MILWAUKEE - The Marquette University women's lacrosse team fell to Duquesne, 11-7, in its first-ever regular season contest Saturday afternoon at Valley Fields.

The Golden Eagles (1-2) were led by Nicole Gleason and Claire Costanza, who each recorded two points on the afternoon. Gleason paced the Golden Eagles with two goals.

The rest of the scoring for Marquette was spread out amongst five players with Costanza, Hayley Baas, Kenzie Brown, Lisa Beltramello, and Emma Kern all notching goals. Beltramello and Kern's markers were the first of their MU careers. 

Duquesne (2-0) jumped out to an early 1-0 lead, and never looked back, taking a 5-1 lead at the half. In the second stanza, MU battled back and narrowed the deficit to two at 9-7, and that was as close as the Golden Eagles would get.

Duquesne received three-goal performances from both Caitlin Prince and Lib Lowry.

Marquette returns to action at Valley Fields on Sunday, March 3 when its welcomes Detroit for a 1 p.m. contest.
