Women's Lacrosse Defeated by No. 6/10 Notre Dame 12-5

NOTRE DAME, IND - The Marquette women's lacrosse team (3-5) fell to No. 6/10 Notre Dame Wednesday evening 12-5 at Arlotta Staduim on the campus of Notre Dame.
Amanda Bochniak scored her first goal for the Golden Eagles in the first half to cut the early deficit to 3-1. However, Notre Dame took advantage of its free position shots, scoring two goals on five attempts in the first half.
After 20 minutes of play, goalie Sarah Priem was strong in the cage making six saves while facing 15 Notre Dame shots to keep the Golden Eagles within striking distance at 5-1. Priem finished with nine saves on the night.
However, Notre Dame (7-3) would add six straight goals to start the second half.
Faced with the deficit, Bochniak added her second goal of the game midway through the second half. She later would pick up a third point on an assist to Kenzie Brown late in the game.
The freshman and Fallson, Md. native has 21 points on the season.
MU found its footing late in the second half when Hayley Baas and Clare Costanza both scored goals. Defender Elizabeth Goslee was able to disrupt the Notre Dame attack in the second half picking up three ground balls and forcing two turnovers.
The Fighting Irish were paced throughout by Courtney Fortunato who scored two goals and added three assists, while attacker Kiera McMullan added a pair of goals. Notre Dame finished going 4 for 8 on free position shots.
Marquette returns to action at Valley Fields this Sunday against Winthrop at noon CT.
