Official BIG EAST Release

NEW YORK – Marquette University sophomore Allison Lane was named BIG EAST Midfielder of the Week, while junior Julianna Shearer earned weekly honor roll mention, the league office announced on Tuesday.

Lane, who claims her second BIG EAST weekly accolade, filled up the stat sheet in leading the Golden Eagles to their third win of the season. The sophomore tallied a goal, an assist, three caused turnovers, six draw controls (tied career-high) and a pair of ground balls in Marquette’s 17-4 win over Central Michigan.

The Asbury, N.J. native has scored at least once in each of MU’s eight games this season and currently ranks second on the team with 15 goals.

Shearer tied a career-high and school record with five goals in the win over CMU, while adding an assist. The junior scored all of her points in the first half as MU took a 12-2 lead into halftime. Her six points tied Riley Hill’s effort in a win over Detroit for the most points scored by a Golden Eagle in a single game this year.

The Westminster, Maryland native currently has the team-lead with 17 goals, while her 20 points ranks second behind Amanda Bochniak (9g, 13a). Shearer also leads MU with 24 draw controls and ranks second with 18 ground balls and is tied for second with 10 caused turnovers.

The Golden Eagles will return to action on Saturday, March 26, taking on Denver on the road. Game time is slated for a 12:30 p.m. Central time start.
