Official BIG EAST Release
Lane continued what has been a breakout sophomore campaign with another impressive effort in a 15-6 road victory over Villanova in the BIG EAST opener last Saturday. Marquette set a program record for single-game goals against a conference opponent and the Asbury, N.J. native registered three to go along with two assists, two ground balls, a caused turnover, and program-record tying eight draw controls in the win.
She has scored at least one goal in every game this season for the Golden Eagles and currently ranks second on the team with 20 scores. Her 29 draw controls lead the team and rank third in the BIG EAST.
Meyer enjoyed one of her best games of the season in the win over Villanova as well, registering two caused turnovers, a ground ball and two draw controls. More impressively, the Oak Brook, Illinois native marked the reigning BIG EAST Attacker of the Year and preseason favorite to defend her award, Jackie Frocarro, and held her scoreless the entire second half. It was Meyer’s first weekly honor of the season.
The Golden Eagles will be back in action with another tough test against against UConn in the BIG EAST home opener at Valley Fields on Saturday, April 9. First draw is set for 12 p.m. Central time.
