Official BIG EAST Release

NEW YORK – Marquette University senior attacker Julianna Shearer has netted her fourth BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll selection of the season after becoming the first Golden Eagle-ever and first league player this season to score 50 goals, the league office announced on Tuesday.

The Westminster, Maryland, native eclipsed the 50-goal mark on Saturday with a five-goal performance in a 19-2 win over Butler on Senior Day, giving her 52 goals on the season. It was the 15th time this season she registered multiple goals in a game and the 10th time she scored at least three.

Shearer also chipped in two ground balls, three draw controls and a caused turnover in yet another solid all-around effort. In a season full of firsts and record-breaking performances, Shearer's three draw controls gave her 102 for her career and placed her as the only member in program history to record at least 100 goals and 100 draw controls.

With only one regular season game remaining against Vanderbilt on Sunday, April 30, Shearer looks to become the first Marquette player ever to lead the BIG EAST in goals scored as she currently sits atop the list of scoring leaders, totaling five more than the second-leading scorer, Mollie Stevens of Florida. Shearer also has a league-leading 27 goals during league action.

She and the Golden Eagles will embark for Nashville, Tennessee, this weekend for the regular season finale. First draw against the Commodores is set for 1 p.m. Central time.
