Official BIG EAST Release

NEW YORK – Marquette senior attacker Julianna Shearer capped her collegiate career with three goals in the team’s season finale win at Vanderbilt on Sunday and earned BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll recognition for the second straight week and fifth time this year, the league office announced on Tuesday.

Shearer notched another three goals in leading the Golden Eagles to a 14-12 comeback victory over Vanderbilt on Sunday. She finished the regular season with 55 goals, which is 10 more than the next closest goal-scorer in the BIG EAST and shatters the Marquette single-season mark by 19 goals.

The Westminster, Maryland, native scored twice in the first half, helping erase an early three-goal deficit, and provided the final tally with 2:07 remaining in regulation that gave MU a three-goal advantage that proved enough. She added five ground balls, two draw controls and two caused turnovers in the win. Marquette finished the 2017 season with a 6-11 overall record, including a 4-5 mark in BIG EAST play.

Shearer, her teammates and the rest of the league will await the BIG EAST’s announcement of postseason awards, which will be released later this week.
