Official BIG EAST Release

NEW YORK – In the final set of BIG EAST women’s lacrosse weekly awards, the league announced on Tuesday that Marquette senior Hayley Baas was named Midfielder of the Week, while fellow classmate Elizabeth Goslee made the weekly honor roll.

Baas earns her first-career BIG EAST Midfielder of the Week award after tying and setting single-game school records with six ground balls and five caused turnovers, respectively, in Marquette’s 8-7 win over Cincinnati in the season finale and on Senior Night last Friday.

The Cincinnati native was essential in the win, proving valuable defensively while also scoring her 22nd goal of the season. She finished the year with 27 points on 22 goals and five assists, while adding 30 ground balls and leading the Golden Eagles with 28 caused turnovers. She concludes her career as Marquette’s all-time leading goal scorer with 88 career goals and is second all-time with 103 career points.

Goslee landed on the weekly honor roll for the third time in her career after making perhaps the most impactful play of the game to deny Cincinnati a chance to tie the game with under 20 seconds remaining. With MU leading 8-7, the Bearcats made one final attempt to tie the game, but Goslee stayed in front of a UC attacker and blocked the potential game-tying shot mere feet in front of the cage.

The fellow Queen City native added a ground ball and caused turnover in the win. She ends her Marquette career as the all-time leader in caused turnovers with 88.

Marquette’s season ended with a 7-10 overall record, including a 4-3 mark in BIG EAST play. Both win totals were program records.
