Goslee Named to U.S. Women's Team Tryout Pool
May 27, 2014
BALTIMORE – Sophomore defender Elizabeth Goslee of the Marquette University women’s lacrosse team was selected to the tryout pool for the 2014-15 U.S. Women’s National Team, US Lacrosse announced last week.
“We are so proud of ‘Biz’ and excited for the opportunity she will have to try out for the U.S. National Team,” Marquette head coach Meredith Black said. “The experience she gains in June will serve her well as she continues to build on an impressive sophomore season. Her leadership and tenacity on the field helped our team grow in its second season and this selection attests to the strides made within our program.”
The three-day tryout will be held June 13-15 at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., following which approximately 36-40 players will be selected to the squad, which will train as part of the lead-up to the 2017 Federation of International Lacrosse Women’s World Cup in Surrey, England.
Goslee is one of 25 defenders selected to tryout, and one of just 14 members of the class of 2016 to compete.
The Cincinnati native continued to standout on defense for the Golden Eagles as a sophomore, ranking second on the squad in caused turnovers (21) and third in ground balls (24), while earning All-BIG EAST Second Team honors and sharing team most valuable player honors with classmate Hayley Baas.
Goslee helped the MU defense limit opponents to over three-and-a-half fewer goals during the program’s second season in 2014. She was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor roll on April 22 after posting a career-high five caused turnovers and four ground balls against Temple on April 17.
The Golden Eagles concluded the 2014 season with an overall record of 5-12, including a 1-6 mark in conference action.
