Priem Earns IWLCA North/South All-Star Selection

May 27, 2016

Official IWLCA Release

GRAND LAKE, Colo. - Senior goalkeeper Sarah Priem is the first Marquette University women's lacrosse player selected to play in the 2016 IWLCA North/South All-Star Game on June 4, it was announced today.

Priem, who will be one of two goalkeepers for the South, is one of 10 players from the BIG EAST Conference selected to both teams with five featured on each side. A total of 131 players across all three NCAA divisions were selected to play in the games. The Division I game kicks off the triple-header at 11:30 a.m. followed by the Division II game at 12:45 p.m. and the Division III game at 2 p.m. All games will be played at Cabrini College.

"It's such an honor to be chosen for this game," Marquette head coach Meredith Black said. "There are so many great seniors in this country. To be picked as a select few is very impressive. I'm so proud and she definitely deserves it. One more day of playing which will be so fun for her."

A four-year starter for the Golden Eagles, Priem set the standard for all future goalies to come through Milwaukee. The Berwyn, Pennsylvania native set a Marquette single season record with 45 ground balls and helped lead the Golden Eagles to their best-ever regular season finish. MU ended the 2016 campaign with program records for overall wins (7) and conference victories (4) en route to tying for third place in the BIG EAST standings.
