Marquette Adds Hannah Clarke as Assistant Coach
July 24, 2014
MILWAUKEE – The Marquette University women’s lacrosse program has announced the addition of former William & Mary defender Hannah Clarke as an assistant coach.
"I am so excited to welcome Hannah to our staff and the Marquette Family,” Marquette head coach Meredith Black said. “She is going to be a great fit for our team both personally and athletically. Hannah knows what it takes to compete at the highest level and she is going to help our defense reach those heights.”
Clarke capped a five-year career with the Tribe as an All-Colonial Athletic Association Second Team selection as a redshirt senior team captain. She concluded her career with 43 caused turnovers, ranking her 11th in program history, and started all 32 contests during her final two seasons in Williamsburg.
“Hannah brings with her a strong value system that fits in well with my philosophy and the mission of Marquette,” Black said. “Hannah has had the opportunity to play under three different head coaches in her tenure at William & Mary and I know that experience she gained from each of those coaches will help her to become an outstanding coach herself."
A native of Houston, Texas, Clarke participated in the NCAA Career in Sports Forum in the spring of 2014 and served on William & Mary’s chapter of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee from 2012-14.
Over the past three summers, she has coached the Texas-based Swizzle Sticks and Rangers Lacrosse programs at collegiate showcase events around the country. She has also served as a camp and clinic counselor at various events and served as the Crease Ranch Camp director in 2014, after serving as head counselor from 2009-13.
She graduated in 2013 from William & Mary with a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology and health sciences and earned the CAA Commissioner’s Academic Award during her career.
A graduate of the St. John’s School in Houston, Clarke was a US Lacrosse All-American as a senior after helping the program to back-to-back runner-up finishes at the state championship.
She joins fellow assistant Jordy Kirr on head coach Meredith Black’s coaching staff.
