Marquette Women's Lacrosse Announces 2015 Signees

MILWAUKEE – The Marquette University women’s lacrosse team and head coach Meredith Black has announced the nine student-athletes to its 2015 signing class. 

All nine incoming freshmen will arrive on campus this fall and have four years of eligibility remaining with the Golden Eagles.

“This class is midfield heavy, which is great because it enables us to use them in various ways that work best for the program," Black said. “It’s a very strong class as well and we think they can come in and contribute right away to our success.

"We brought in talent from many different regions of the country and we're excited to get to work with these girls full-time, pushing them to reach their maximum potential and helping us elevate the program to greater heights.”

This class includes five student-athletes from the state of New York and one each from Illinois, Massachusetts, Minnesota and New Jersey.

The Marquette lacrosse will enter its fifth year as a program and fourth season of competition in 2015-16.

Prior to Marquette: Dolan was a three-year letterwinner in lacrosse at Loyola Academy (Wilmette, Illinois) … Was a two-time All-Conference and All-State selection as a junior and senior and an All-American honorable mention as senior … Led team to the state championship in each of her final three seasons, compiling a record of 48-8 over her final two seasons … Matched her junior total of 43 draw controls as a senior to go along with 12 caused turnovers and 23 groundballs … Started with Lakeshore Lacrosse Club for four seasons before finishing up her final two years at Illinois Elite Lacrosse. 

Personal: Dolan was born in Chicago … Daughter of BJ and Stacy Dolan … Has three older brothers, Jake, Casey and Sean, and one younger sister, Lia … Plans to major in exercise physiology.

Carly Colman | M | 5-7 | Needham, Massachusetts | Needham H.S.

Prior to Marquette: Colman was a four-time letterwinner in lacrosse, while also lettering in basketball and field hockey, at Needham High School (Needham, Massachusetts) … Led team to four Bay State championships and an 82-10-1 record during her four seasons on the lacrosse team … Team finished top-3 in each of her four seasons and earned a No. 1 ranking during her senior season … Was a Bay State First Team All-Star, Eastern Mass. Second Team All-Star, was named team Defender of the Year, and also earned a Boston Globe Player of the Week award … Also earned her high school’s Athletic Excellence Award … Competed on the top club team for Lower New England for six years, where she took part in national tournaments.

Personal: Colman was born in Boston, Massachusetts … Daughter of Fred and Glens Colman … Has one older brother, Shaymus, and one younger brother, Blake … Plans to major in criminology and physiological sciences.

Prior to Marquette: Gabriel was a four-year letterwinner in lacrosse at Lancaster High School (Lancaster, NY) … Served as team captain as a junior and senior … Was a two-time First Team All-America selection (2014, 2015) … Earned First Team All-Conference each of her four seasons … Prep Talk Player of the Year in 2015 … Led team to the Sectional title each of her four seasons … Holds school record for most career goals (247) and most goals in a season (80) … As a senior, registered 80 goals, 35 assists, 117 ground balls and 133 draw controls.

Personal: Gabriel was born in Syracuse, NY … Daughter of Craig and Cynthia Gabriel … Has three older siblings, including two brothers, Jedidiah and Joshua, and one sister, Esther, who will be a senior attacker for Oswego State in 2016… Plans to major in business.

Prior to Marquette: Andersen was a four-year letterwinner in lacrosse at Hunterdon Central Regional High School (Flemington, NJ) … All-Conference honorable mention as a freshman, All-Conference second team and Brine National All-American as a sophomore, and All-Conference first team as a junior and senior … Led team to the county championship and set the school-record for most points in a season (95) in 2015 … Scored 129 career goals and totaled 74 assists for 203 career points … Had experience playing every position, including goalie.

Personal: Andersen was born in Flemington, NJ … Daughter of Joe and Linda Andersen … Has one older brother, Jake, who will be a senior goalie at Rutgers in 2015 … Plans to major in business communications.

Abigail Squirrell | M | 6-0 | Ossining, N.Y. | Ossining

Prior to Marquette: Squirrell was a five-year letterwinner in lacrosse, while also lettering in basketball and soccer, at Ossining High School (Ossining, N.Y.) … Four-time All-Conference and two-time All-Section selection, while helping lacrosse team to the state quarterfinals in each of her final four seasons … Totaled 211 career goals, 282 career points and 533 career ground balls … Registered 67 goals during both her junior and senior seasons to go along with 53 combined assists, 279 combined ground balls and a 60 percent success rate on draw controls … Also played for Landsharks Lacrosse Club … Earned All-Conference honors in both basketball and soccer over her career.

Personal: Squirrell was born in Sleepy Hollow, N.Y. … Daughter of Bob and Mona Squirrell … Has one younger brother, Jackson … Plans to major in business finance.

Logan Dobratz | M | 5-8 | Lakeville, Minn. | Lakeville

Prior to Marquette: Dobratz was a four-year letterwinner in lacrosse and also lettered in basketball at Lakeville High School (Lakeville, Minn.) … Three-time All-State selection, including the lone freshman named to the team in 2012 … A US Lacrosse All-American honorable mention pick as a junior … Led team to multiple conference championships, a sectional championship in 2013 followed by a runner-up state finish that same season … Accumulated 143 goals, 127 assists, 163 draw controls and 188 ground balls in 68 career games … In her last full season as a junior, compiled career-highs in goals (52), assists (42) and draw controls (81) … Also played in various high-profile tournament across the country as a member of the Minnesota Lakers Select club team … As an active member of the community, has served as a mentor and assistant coach for the Lakeville Lacrosse Association and Minnesota Lakers Select and volunteered for several other community organizations … Also took part in many service/mission trips.

Prior to Marquette: Willcocks was a five-year letterwinner in lacrosse, while also lettering in track and field, at Cold Spring Harbor High School (Cold Spring Harbor, NY) … Earned All-Conference and All-County honors throughout her career … Helped team to Conference and County championships, as well as, state finals appearances.

Personal: Willcocks was born in Long Island, NY … Daughter of Reggie Willcocks … Has two younger sisters, Caroline and Bridget … Plans to major in business.


Kaitlyn Viviano | D | 5-5 | West Islip, N.Y. | West Islip

Prior to Marquette: Viviano was a four-year letterwinner in lacrosse and also lettered in basketball and volleyball at West Islip High School (West Islip, NY) … Served as team captain, leading team to a 19-3 record and state championship as a senior following a runner-up state finish during her junior season … Was named to the state All-Tournament team as both a junior and senior and voted the team’s best defensive player in 2015 … Earned academic honors as a member of all three varsity teams she played on during her career.

Prior to Marquette: Soccodato was a four-time letterwinner in lacrosse, while also lettering in basketball, tennis and track at Our Lady of Mercy Academy (Oyster Bay, N.Y.) … Holds the school record for single-season (61 goals, 53 assists), single-season assists (53), single-game points (5 goals, 8 assists), single game assists (8), and career points (348) … Led team to its first CHSAA Class A lacrosse title as a sophomore … Ranked by MSG Varsity and New York Newsday in 2014 and 2015 as a Top-100/150 Lacrosse Player … Named the league’s Most Outstanding Player of the Year as a sophomore … In tennis, was an All-League and All-State selection and helped lead team to three-straight Class A state titles … Twice represented Long Island and Queens Catholic Schools in the New York State Federation Tennis tournament … Member of the National Italian Honor Society … Recipient of the U.S. Army Reserve National Scholar-Athlete Award, given to a high school senior that shows outstanding talent in athletics and maintains a high academic average … Was one-of-six Italian Americans and the only high school player chosen to play for Team Italy in the Czech Republic at the 2015 European Lacrosse Championships where she scored 12 goals (including to hat tricks) and added one assist in helping team to a 4-2 record.
