MU and Bucks announce 7-year arena deal

The Milwaukee Bucks and Marquette University have signed a seven-year agreement in which Marquette's men's basketball team will play its home games at the Bucks' new sports and entertainment arena, beginning with the 2018-19 season. The announcement was made at a press conference today on the main concourse of the new Bucks arena that is currently under construction.

Milwaukee's new state-of-the-art sports and entertainment arena is scheduled to open in the fall of 2018 and will serve as the Bucks' new home, as well as being a major venue for concerts, family shows, boxing, MMA, NCAA men's basketball tournament games and other special events.

B.J. Grill aims for second MLL crown on Saturday with Denver

Grill will be looking to defend his 2016 Major League Lacrosse crown with the Denver Outlaws as they face the Ohio Machine once again in the title game. The Outlaws (10-5) defeated the Rochester Rattlers in their semifinal game, 15-8, on Saturday to earn a spot in the final. The Outlaws are in a familiar spot, having gone to the championships game seven-of-twelve seasons, more than any other team in the league.

The MLL Championship game will take place on Saturday in Frisco, Texas with faceoff slated for 6 p.m. Central time. The game can be followed live through Youtube or on the CBS Sports Network.

Thomson brothers compete for Minto Cup

Senior Tanner Thomson and incoming freshman Keaton Thomson will look to take home the Minto Cup with the Mimico Mountaineers this weekend in Brampton, Ontario. The four-team tournament at Brampton Memorial Arena started yesterday crowns the junior box men’s lacrosse champion in Canada. Former Golden Eagle Tyler Gilligan previously won the Minto Cup with the Whitby Warriors.

Tanner Thomson, who posted four points on a goal and three assists on Thursday, is coming off an All-BIG EAST Second Team campaign as a junior at Marquette in which he notched 20 goals and 14 assists. Keaton Thomson signed with Marquette after a fruitful career at St. Michael’s College School in York, Ontario.

The tournament, which features round robin play through Saturday, is steamed live at JVI Sports Network.

Women’s soccer begins 25th season

Marquette most successful women’s program over the past two decades will embark on its 25th season Friday night at 7:30 p.m. against No. 2 Stanford at Valley Fields. The game will feature a free live broadcast on GoMarquette.com with Patrick Reed (play-by-play) and Chris Jenkins on the call. MU was picked third in the BIG EAST Conference preseason poll and redshirt junior Carrie Madden earned preseason all-league honors for the first time in her career.

Volleyball to hold open scrimmage Sunday

The women’s volleyball program’s quest for a seventh-straight NCAA tournament appearance begins in a week at No. 20 Hawai’i, but fans can get their first look at the squad on Sunday afternoon at the Al McGuire Center. The Blue & Gold Scrimmage will be held on Sunday, Aug. 20 at 2 p.m. Central time and the free event is open to all.

Marquette Intercollegiate at Erin Hills highlights golf schedule for 2017-18

The return of the Marquette Intercollegiate to Erin Hills Golf Course, site of the 117th US Open, highlights the 2017-18 season schedule for defending BIG EAST Men's Golf Champion Marquette.

After being the site of Wisconsin's first US Open in June, Erin Hills will host Marquette's fourth annual intercollegiate event October 1-3.  Of the 15 teams in the Marquette Intercollegiate field, 11 advanced to NCAA Regional play last year while Florida State, Iowa State, Ole Miss and Purdue played in the NCAA Championships.
