IWLCA Honor Roll Release

GRAND LAKE, Colo.
– Junior midfielder Molly O’Brien and the Marquette University women’s lacrosse team were recently honored for academic achievements during the 2015 season by the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA).

As a team, the Golden Eagles were one of only 83 NCAA Division I schools honored by the IWLCA. The academic squad honor is bestowed upon schools that register a collective team grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.

This is the second straight year Marquette has earned the prestigious award. In July, it was announced that 25 MU women’s lacrosse student-athletes earned BIG EAST Conference All-Academic individual honors in 2014-15, including O’Brien, who also picked up an IWLCA individual honor.

The Winnetka, Illinois native was one of just 256 student-athletes in Division I to earn a spot on the 2015 IWLCA/Zag Sports Academic Honor Roll. The award recognizes student-athletes that have achieved at least junior academic status and a cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 or greater.

Marquette finished with a 5-12 record in its third-ever season of competition and second year as a full member of the BIG EAST. Fourth-year head coach Meredith Black and her squad will begin fall workouts in September.
