Women's Lacrosse Announces 2012 Fall Schedule
MILWAUKEE - The Marquette University women's lacrosse released its schedule for the upcoming fall season, which features match-ups with top-rated programs from around the country.
"We want to use this season to build our ladies' confidence and show them what to expect in the spring," said head coach Meredith Black.
Marquette will be in action on five dates throughout September and October, while prepping for its inaugural season this coming spring.
The Golden Eagles will kick things off on the road against Notre Dame on Saturday, Sept. 22, before returning to Milwaukee for their lone home match on Saturday, Sept. 29 vs. Grand Valley State. Face off with GVSU is set for 2 p.m. at Valley Fields.
Marquette will play in a pair of day-long round robin tournaments in October at Grand Valley State (Oct. 14) and Ohio State (Oct. 21).
"Ending the fall season at Ohio Sate with games against the Buckeyes, Cincinnati, Virginia Tech and Duquesne, will give us a good idea of where we stand against top-level competition," said Black.
In between the round robin tournaments, MU will travel to Evanston, Ill., on Oct. 17 for a 7 p.m. game against seven-time and reigning national champion, Northwestern.
"I believe the schedule, albeit difficult, will help us see where we are as a team and where we need to be come next spring," said Black.
