Women's Lacrosse Begins Fall Ball on Sunday
Sept. 26, 2013
MILWAUKEE - The Marquette University women's lacrosse team kicks off its 2013 fall ball campaign this weekend at Valley Fields when it welcomes Grand Valley State and Cincinnati for a day of tournament action.
“Playing GVSU and Cincinnati again provides more familiarity as we head into the fall season," Marquette head coach Meredith Black said. "Hopefully it brings us some more confidence and makes us less tentative, so the ladies can feel comfortable when they get out on the field Sunday. It should allow us to get out there, play hard and hustle no matter what the other two teams bring at us.”
Play begins at 9 a.m. with Marquette facing Grand Valley State in a rematch of last season's lone fall contest at Valley Fields. The Lakers will then face Cincinnati before MU returns to the field to play the Bearcats at 11 a.m.
Half games between GVSU and MU and GVSU against UC will follow at noon and 12:30 p.m., respectively.
The Golden Eagles will also host a clinic on Saturday from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at Valley Fields, with registration available on the day of the event. The clinic is $75 and the registration form (PDF) can be found here.
