MEET THE 'FAMILY'- August 2015

What does being a part of the 'FAMILY' mean to you?
Being a part of the 'FAMILY' means that we know we always have each other's backs on and off the field. It means we are very close with one another and would do anything for each other, which I think is a pretty unique and special quality for a team when it comes to NCAA Division I soccer.

What accomplishment during your time at Marquette are you most proud of to-date?
Winning the BIG EAST Championship my freshman year.

After the conclusion of your collegiate career, what are your professional goals (soccer, career, etc.)?
Not sure yet.

How did you spend your summer?
This summer, I spent most of my time playing with the Chicago Red Stars Reserve team with teammates Jacie and Morgan. I also spent some time working as a coach for the Milwaukee Wave soccer camps. When I wasn't doing either of these things, I was working out/hanging out in Milwaukee or spending time with my family in Chicago.

Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, or Snapchat?
Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat

Are there any pre-game rituals or superstitions that you have on match day?
Right before the game, my teammate Cali and I will always tie a piece of blue pre-wrap on each other's wrists. This symbolizes working "blue collar" at all times on the field. I also say a prayer right before the game around the time the national anthem is being played.

Who is your biggest inspiration (athletic or otherwise)?
My parents, Russ and Dawn Handwork.

Favorite sport besides soccer?
Probably volleyball.

If you had to win at a random sport, which teammate would you select to play with?
Morgan Proffitt

Best athlete (non-teammate) at Marquette?
C. Nortey

Favorite meal/food?
Italian food!

Favorite thing to do in Milwaukee?
Going to Bradford beach in the summer!

Funniest teammate?
Emilee Mytinger

Most talented teammate outside of soccer (what area/discipline)?
Cali is a talented artist/painter.

Is there anything that others are surprised to learn about you?
I'm a HUGE Harry Potter fan.

An interesting fact about your hometown?
A lot of people refer to Plainfield as "Trainfield" because of the ridiculous amount of trains that pass through everyday.

What type of music do you prefer to listen to? Any favorite artists?
I listen to many genres of music, but my favorites include country, pop, hip-hop, alternative, and rock.

Favorite class taken at MU?
Probably criminology
