Katie Bissen is in her third season as a graduate student assistant coach on the Marquette soccer staff. She was a four-year letterwinner at Marquette, playing as a starting goalkeeper in two seasons, earning second-team All-Conference USA honors both her junior and senior years. Bissen graduated from Marquette in May of 2005. She is currently enrolled in Marquette's graduate program, on track to get a physician's assistant master's degree. She will be working with goalkeepers during the 2007 season. 2003: Bissen stepped into the Marquette starting lineup as a junior and did so with success. She earned the first of seven shutouts on the season, blanking Vanderbilt in a season opening 1-0 win in the Milwaukee Cup (Aug. 31). She earned her second shutout two matches later, recording a season-high nine saves against USC (Sept. 5) in a scoreless draw. She made a pair of stops against Oakland (Sept. 7), playing in the first 88 minutes of a 2-0 Marquette win. She allowed just one goal in the first 400 minutes of the season, starting the year with a 0.26 goals against average. She was named C-USA Defensive Player-of-the-Week on Sept. 8 as a result. Against Houston (Sept. 21), she made two stops in a 1-0 win. A shutout of Memphis (Sept. 28) was quickly followed up with back-to-back shutouts of Cincinnati (Oct. 10) and Louisville (Oct. 12). Bissen's five stops in 89 minutes against Cincinnati combined with four saves in a complete-game shutout of Louisville earned her Conference USA Defender-of-the-Week honors. She finished the season with 21 stops and a shutout of Northwestern (Oct. 31) in 385 minutes. For the year, Bissen finished the season with a 0.91 goals against average, the fourth best total in Conference USA. 2002: Bissen saw action as MU's no. 2 keeper in four matches. She played in MU's 2-0 loss to Oakland on Sept. 1). She surrendered two goals, but made three of her six season saves on Oct. 11 against Charlotte. She played 30 minutes and made two saves in a 1-1 tie to Wis.-Milwaukee (Oct. 27) and saw 20 minutes of action against DePaul (Nov. 2). 2001: Bissen played in just three matches. She was part of the Golden Eagles' 2-0 shutout of Wis.-Green Bay on Sept. 5. She made three saves and allowed two goals against Memphis in a 3-2 win on Sept. 23. She also made two stops against Louisville on Oct. 21. At Wayzata: Bissen was a three year letter winner in soccer at Wayzata High School. She was named to the Minnesota state all-tournament team as a senior and was an all-area team nominee. As a senior, Bissen helped guide the Trojans to a state AA championship and a no. 13 national ranking by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. Additionally, she helped Wayzata to conference and section titles as a junior and senior. She finished her high school career with a 0.44 goals against average. Bissen also competed for the Wayzata Soccer Club for six seasons. She helped the team win the Premier League Championship in 2000 and finished as a runner up in the USA Cup. In the 1999 season, she helped the club team to a Premier State Championship and a State Cup runner up finish. Academically, Bissen finished in the top 10 percent of her class and was a member of the National Honor Society. Personal: Born July 6, 1983, Bissen is the daughter of Greg and Joan Bissen.
