2002: Goranson was Marquette's second leading freshman scorer and was fourth on the team with eight points. She scored a four goals on the season, the highest freshman total since nine by Kate Gordon in the 1999 season. She scored her first career goal against Rhode Island (Sept. 13). She also logged tallies against Southern Miss (Sept. 29), Vanderbilt (Oct. 30) and DePaul (Nov. 2). Her mark against Southern Miss was the match winner. She took 15 shots on the year, 10 of which were on target.
At Germantown: Goranson was a four-year letterwinner in soccer at Germantown. A busy student-athlete, she was also a three year letter winner in basketball and a four-year letterwinner in tennis. She was also on the student council for four years, was junior class president and was a member of the German National Honor Society and National Honor Society. On the field, she scored 42 career goals and had 39 career assists. She was named conference player-of-the-year as a senior in which she tallied 10 goals and eight assists. She was second team all-area that year and led her team in scoring. As a junior, she was first team all-conference and led her team in assists with 10. In her second year, she was all-state honorable mention and was second team all-conference. As a freshman, she was all-conference honorable mention. She was a club player for F.C. Milwaukee Nationals, earning state titles five times. She has been an ODP participant for the past seven years. Goranson was also successful in tennis as the was team MVP in her final three years and was a second-team all-state selection. She was also named her basketball team's best defensive player as a senior.
Personal: Heather Lin Goranson was born on April 5, 1984,in Menomonee Falls, Wis., to Kurt and Laura Goranson. She has one brother, Alex. She is majoring in pre-law.
