2002: In her senior season, Ashleigh Koenig helped Marquette attain on of its best defensive seasons in school history. As their primary form of defense, the Golden Eagles owned a 1.25 goals against average for the season. She set personal bests for minutes played and saves, upping her career averages in all categories. She finished her career third in saves (204), second in minutes played (4767:16), second in shutouts (21.0), and second in goals against average (0.93). For the season, her 87 saves was second best in school history and her eight shutouts was the third best total at Marquette. Koenig's senior season started out less than stellar, as MU surrendered five goals in its first two matches. She responded, however, to pitch four-straight shutouts in the next four MU matches, tallying the second-longest scoreless string by a keeper in school history. She shut out Tulane and Southern Miss two matches later to blank six of eight opponents. She set season highs in saves with eight against top-ranked North Carolina and in a 110-minute scoreless tie against Saint Louis. She recorded partial shutouts against Louisville and DePaul to close out the season.

2001: Making the transition to a full-time starter, Koenig proved more than valuable as the spearhead of the Marquette defense. As a junior, Koenig was responsible for being in the net for 95 percent of the season. She was directly involved with MU's near record setting pace for season goals. MU allowed 15 goals, one shy of the 1997 school record of 14. Koenig allowed just 13 goals on the year and had a 0.60 goals against average, setting the school record in that category. She was also second in the conference and 10th in the nation in GAA. At the conclusion of the year, she had a 0.68 GAA, owning the career school and Conference USA records. Koenig also moved into third place on the all-time list with 18 career wins. Her 16-6 mark a year ago tied her for second on the single season wins mark at MU by a goal keeper. Koenig saw significant action in all 11 of Marquette's shutouts of the season, one off the school record. She played the duration of eight of those shutouts. She earned back-to-back shutouts against Wis.-Green Bay (Sept. 5) and Central Michigan (Sept. 9). The following match, she made a season-high 19 saves against Illinois in a 3-1 win (Sept. 17). She shutout UAB (Sept.; 21) in the following match, making three saves. Koenig also made back-to-back shutouts against Charlotte (Oct. 12) and East Carolina (Oct. 14). She was named Conference USA Defensive Player-of-the-Week as a result. Koenig had her longest streak of the year, three matches, without surrendering a goal. She blanked Wisconsin (Oct. 28), Wis.-Milwaukee (Nov. 3) and DePaul (Nov. 3) in succession. In fact, she did not allow a goal for 383 minutes from a goal in the third minute against Saint Louis (Oct. 26) to one in the 36th minute against Houston (Nov. 7). Koenig allowed just three goals in the final seven matches of the year. She allowed Houston to score in the C-USA quarterfinals (Nov. 7), Cincinnati put one in the net in the C-USA Championship (Nov. 10), and Michigan scored in the first round of the NCAA Tournament (Nov. 16).

2000: Koenig was a proven backup during the 2000 season. She allowed just six goals in 498 minutes of action, resulting in a 1.09 goals against average. She played in 11 matches, starting once. With Mo Bothwell and Katie Cook, she split shutouts against Louisville (Sept. 13) and Houston (Oct. 15) and split with Bothwell against DePaul. She started against Charlotte (Oct. 1) and stopped eight shots to record a solo shutout. In doing so, she earned C-USA defensive player of the week following that match. She earned a rare field appearance in the C-USA quarterfinals against South Florida at defender due to a late first half injury.

1999: Koenig played in nine games, making collegiate debut at Tennessee (Sept. 5). She earned first collegiate victory against Southern Miss (Oct. 24), playing the entire second half of Marquette's 3-1 win. She shared in six shutouts and had impressive 0.35 GAA, allowing only one goal in 256 minutes of action.

At Naperville Central: All-state first team as a senior, Koenig was also the Redhawks' Most Valuable Player. She was named to the Chicago Tribune All-Area, Chicago Sun-Times All-Area and was co-captain of the Daily Herald All-Area Team. In her career, she registered 46.5 shutouts and a 0.54 goals against average. A member of the Illinois ODP squad for two years, Koenig also helped the Naperville Lightning Club to a state title.

Personal: Born June 8, 1981, Koenig is the daughter of Thomas and Renata Koenig. She has an older sister and two older brothers. Koenig is majoring in social sciences.
