2001: Matola was one of Marquette's more active players in her freshman class. She played in all but one contest in her freshman season. She was a significant part of the front line rotation, taking 10 shots on the season. She launched her first shot in her season debut against Ohio (Aug. 30). Two matches later, she scored her first career point, scoring MU's second goal in a 2-0 win at Ohio State (Sept. 6).
At Brookfield East: Matola earned four letters in soccer at Brookfield East, earning all-conference mention in her four seasons. She helped lead the Spartans to a conference title in 1999 and led the squad to a regional semifinal appearance in the 2000 season. In her career, she logged 35 goals and 61 assists. She led Brookfield East with 12 goals and 15 assists as a sophomore. She had 20 assists as a junior and had a 10 goal, 18 assist senior year. She earned several individual honors in her four years. She was a first team all-conference selection in her last three years, adding to an honorable mention nod as a freshman. She was the team MVP as a junior and senior and was team captain in that same time period. As a senior, she was an all-area and all-state in her final two years. She was also selected to the All-Senior Masonic All-Star Game. A six-time club state champion, she played forward for the Milwaukee Football Club Nationals. She was also a member of the Wisconsin Olympic Development Program for five seasons. Academically, she was an honor roll student for four years, was a member of the National Honor Society and was on the student council.
Personal: Kristina Marie Matola was born on Oct. 28, 1983 to Gerald and Marian Matola in Milwaukee. She intends to major in business administration.
