EVANSTON, Ill. - The No. 12/8 Marquette women's soccer team (3-0-0) recorded its third consecutive shutout victory in a 2-0 defeat at Northwestern on Friday evening at Lakeside Field.

Seniors Ally Miller and Megan Jaskowiak found the back of the net for one goal apiece and junior Maegan Kelly added an assist on both goals. Sophomore goalkeeper Sophie Schunk recorded her third victory and picked up three saves.

Miller sliced the ball into the back of the net off of a corner kick by Kelly in the 28th minute of play to score the match's first goal. It was her second of the season.

The Golden Eagles were dominant offensively in the first half taking 13 shots, while holding Northwestern to just one. MU also dominated in corner kicks with five.

In the 72nd minute Jaskowiak recorded her first goal of the season and her career as she sank the ball into the net with a long shot just outside the 18 yard box on an assist from Kelly. Her goal extended the Golden Eagles' lead to 2-0.

Marquette totaled 18 shots in the match, with five on goal, while the defense held the Wildcats to just five total shots with three on goal. The Golden Eagles took nine corner kicks with zero from Northwestern.

The Golden Eagles return home to Valley Fields on Labor Day, Sept. 3. They will host Central Michigan at 1:00 p.m. CT.
