No. 21 Marquette Blanks Seton Hall, 4-0

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - The Marquette women's soccer team (6-2-1, 2-0-0) earned its sixth shutout victory of the season on Friday night as the Golden Eagles blanked Seton Hall, 4-0.
MU continued its tradition of outshooting opponents with an 18-8 advantage over Seton Hall (6-5-0, 1-2-0). The Golden Eagles also took eight corner kicks, while the Pirates had just two.
The Golden Eagles wasted no time and got on the board first in the third minute when Sloan beat the goalkeeper to the far post and scored.
In the 13th minute senior Brown sent a header into the back of the net off of a corner kick by Kelly, which gave the Golden Eagles a 2-0 lead over Seton Hall.
Marquette went up 3-0 with just six minutes remaining in the first period when junior Reigle scored into the left side of the net after a cross from Brown and Philbin. It was Reigle's fourth goal this season.
The Pirates threatened to score in the 43rd minute with a shot that hit the post and then a shot that was high.
The Golden Eagles held a modest edge on shots in the first period, 7-5 and took four corner kicks.
The second period was quiet as the Pirates took just three shots. MU scored in the 80th minute when Reigle passed the ball to Stemmeler and she took a long shot from about 20-yards out to put a stamp on the Golden Eagles victory.
In goal, freshman Amanda Engel earned her third victory and second shutout victory of the season. She played 66 minutes and had two saves, while sophomore Sofie Schunk recorded one saves in 23 minutes on the field.
The Golden Eagles has one day off before heading to Rutgers on Sunday, Sept. 21. Kick-off is at noon CT.
