MILWAUKEE - Junior Maegan Kelly notched a hat-trick to help the No. 19/13 Marquette University women's soccer team top Cincinnati, 5-0, Sunday afternoon at Valley Fields for its ninth shutout of the season.

Marquette (9-2-1, 5-0-0 BIG EAST) maintained a consistent offensive attack throughout the contest, collecting eight shots on goal and 10 corner kicks in the match. With the loss, the Bearcats fall to 4-8-1 overall and 1-5-0 in conference play.

Kelly netted the Golden Eagles' first goal of the afternoon in the 10th minute following a give-and-go with junior Cara Jacobson off a corner kick. MU extended the lead to 2-0 three minutes later when classmate Taylor Madigan converted on a rebound opportunity.

Junior Vanessa Legault-Cordisco sent a cross into the middle of the box and found Kelly, who beat the keeper to the near post, at the 22:46 mark. Classmate Kate Reigle sent the Golden Eagles into intermission with a four goal lead when she flicked in a cross from Mary Luba in the 39th minute.

MU's final tally came when Reigle connected on a through-ball and dished it to Kelly who was waiting in the box and found the back of the net for a 5-0 advantage.

The Golden Eagles outshot Cincinnati, 18-3 and picked up their fifth consecutive shutout dating back to Sept. 13.

In goal, freshman Amanda Engel and sophomore Sofie Schunk each played one half and each recorded one save.

The Golden Eagles will head back on the road next weekend making a stop at Providence on Friday, Oct. 5 at 6:00 p.m. CT before traveling to Connecticut on Sunday, Oct. 7 for a kick-off that begins at noon CT.
