MILWAUKEE - The two-time BIG EAST American Division Champion Marquette women's soccer team defeated the No. 4 seed National Division seed DePaul, 3-0, in the BIG EAST Championship Quarterfinals Sunday afternoon at Valley Fields. The win is the 12th straight for the Golden Eagles and gives them a spot in the BIG EAST Championship Semifinals for the fifth time in program history.

Marquette (15-3-2) launched an aggressive offensive attack on the Blue Demons (11-9-2) in the first half tallying seven shots on net before Rachel Brown scored MU's first goal in the 30th minute. Ashley Bares sent in a cross from 18 yards out and found Brown at the far post where she headed it in for her third goal of the season.

DePaul's defense tightened up in the second half holding Marquette scoreless until the 80th minute mark when Lindsey Page flicked a header to teammate Lauren Acree who buried a shot from 15 yards out to give the Golden Eagles a 2-0 lead.

Rosie Malone-Povolny scored an insurance goal for MU in the 83rd minute to put the game out of reach for the Blue Demons. Lauren Thut served in MU's fifth corner kick of the game where Malone-Povolny settled the cross and scored from 13 yards out to make the score 3-0.

Marquette's defense again was a bright spot in the win holding DePaul to five shots in the game, while the Golden Eagles posted 15 shots, 13 on goal.

Junior goalkeeper Natalie Kulla recorded two saves in the match to earn her ninth shutout of the season and 31st of her career.

Marquette will travel to Piscataway, New Jersey on Friday, Nov. 5 for a semifinal matchup with the No. 3 American Division seed USF. The Golden Eagles won the previous match with USF this season, 2-1, in Tampa, Fla. on Sept. 17. The game will be played on Rutgers' Yarack Field with game time is set for 7:30 p.m. ET/ 6:30 p.m. CT. It will be broadcast live on CBS College Sports.

• The Golden Eagles have outscored their opposition 41-14. The 41 goals mark the most the team has scored since the 2000 season and the fifth highest total in program history.
• Fourteen different Golden Eagles have contributed at least one goal already this season, while six others have tallied at least one point.
