Sophomore Meegan Johnston challenged Butler's Mackenzie Hopkins twice in the final 15 minutes but was not able to break through against the junior goalkeeper who finished with four saves. Powell's shot that sailed high in the 85th minute was Marquette's final attempt at matching the score.
