Jacobson and Madigan are NSCAA Scholar All-Americans

MILWAUKEE--Seniors Emily Jacobson and Taylor Madigan have been awarded additional accolades for their work on the field and in the classroom as the duo have earned 2013 NSCAA Scholar All-American honors. Jacobson was selected to the second team, while Madigan earned a spot on the third team.
"This is a terrific honor for Emily and Taylor and we couldn't be prouder of the hard work they put in to their final season," head coach Markus Roeders said. "They are true student-athletes for putting the work on the field to lead our team and turn around to lead in the classroom as well. We at Marquette are very proud of them and appreciate their excellence."
Jacobson will graduate in May with a degree in exercise science and physiology and holds a 3.45 GPA. She adds this honor to a long list of accomplishments in 2013. Jacobson was a vocal leader for the Golden Eagles and excelled defensively. She was named to the All-BIG EAST first team and the conference tournament defensive MVP. She led the Golden Eagles in allowing just 16 goals all season and 11 shutouts and recorded two goals in the campaign. Jacobson was also selected to the NSCAA All-Northeast region first team and the NSCAA Scholar All-North/Central first team.
Madigan was also a first team BIG EAST selection and recorded six goals this season, including two game winners and gave out six assists in the campaign. She was named to the second team NSCAA All-Northeast region squad, as well as first team NSCAA Scholar All-North/Central and will leave MU with 27 career goals and 13 assists. Madigan has a 3.33 GPA as an advertising and marketing major.
Marquette concluded the season with an 18-4 overall record and won a fifth consecutive BIG EAST regular season championship and earned its second straight conference tournament title. The Gold Eagles fell in the first round of their sixth straight NCAA Championship
