Maegan Kelly Drafted by FC Kansas City

MILWAUKEE-- Former Marquette University women's soccer standout, Maegan Kelly has been drafted by FC Kansas City of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) in its second annual college draft. Kelly was selected in the fourth round and was the 35th overall pick.
The Kansas City, Mo. native will have the opportunity to play in her hometown and reunite with her sister, Katie, also a former Marquette player, and currently a defender on FC Kansas City.
Kelly is the all-time assists leader for the Golden Eagles with 37 and led the squad with 10 goals and eight assists last season for 28 points. She was a third team NSCAA All-American selection in her final season and a three-time All-BIG EAST first team honoree throughout her career with MU.
The NWSL is an eight-team Division-I women's professional soccer league that played its inaugural season April 2013-August 2013. Each team plays a 22-game schedule, including 11 home games played at the University of Missouri-Kansas City's Durwood Stadium beginning in 2014. In its first season FC Kansas City finished with an 11-6 overall record and advanced to the NWSL playoffs falling to Portland Thorns FC in a 3-2 decision.
Kelly graduated from Marquette in December 2013.
