MILWAUKEE - The Marquette women's soccer team will open the 2012 Spring Season with its ninth annual Tournament of Friends Sunday, March 3 at the Marquette Gym. The Tournament of Friends will feature two Marquette teams of current players: a Marquette Blue Team and Marquette Gold Team, an alumni team, Wis.-Whitewater and Wis.-Oshkosh.

The tournament games will be small-sided; four field players and a goalkeeper, and played with a futsal ball. It will be a round-robin style tournament with 25-minute games. The top two teams will compete in the championship game at 3:30 p.m.

"This tournament is definitely a highlight of our spring season," said head coach Markus Roeders. "The ladies are excited for the competition and having our alumni back in town is extra special. The competition is always fast and furious and highlights lots of offense for all teams. Getting our alumni to return to campus and showcase their skills and competitiveness is a treat, and we love having them come around. The goal for the day is always the same, Marquette Blue versus Gold in the final with the better squad on the day claiming the title."

Alumni that are expected to play include, Allison Mallams, Laura Boyer, Julia Egasti, Britni Benage, Kerry McBride, Natalie Kulla, Ashley Bares, Jaime McGaver, Brittany Bares, Michelle Compty, Lindsey Page, and Melissa Moffatt Pelaez.
