April 2, 2013
MILWAUKEE-- Soon to be seniors Emily Jacobson and Maegan Kelly of the Marquette University women's soccer team have been invited to attend the U-23 Women's National Team camp. The week long training camp will run from April 13-20 and will be held at the Home Depot Center in Carlson, Calif.
"Congratulations to Emily and Maegan on their selection to participate in the U23 National Team camp. It will be a terrific experience for both of them and they can showcase their talents against other top players at that age," head coach Markus Roeders said. "Both showed this past season that they were among the elite players in the BIG EAST and the nation."
Kelly's invitation adds to an already impressive list of accolades she earned in 2012-2013 which include being named to the 2012 All-BIG EAST First Team and 2012 BIG EAST All-Tournament Team. Kelly tallied eight goals, 13 assists, and 29 points during the 2012 campaign.
Jacobson was a key cog in the Golden Eagles' defense this past season and was named to the All-BIG EAST Third Team in 2012.
The U23 women's national team will scrimmage with the U20 women's national team, which will be conducting their training camp at the same time. The two squads will scrimmage each other on April 16 at noon CT and again on April 19 at 6 p.m. CT.
